Interests/Research Interests
Interests include: Furthering and deepening the understanding of and utilization of psychosocial rehabilitation principles and a recovery
approach in the lives of both persons in care and healthcare providers.
Champion of promoting the uptake of smoking cessation/management in mental health care programs, and working toward a smoke free campus.
Leslien supports and promotes the use of technology in healthcare; especially at the point of care i.e.
Evolving the use of electronic health records; electronic applications (apps) for various types of devices, supporting nurses to embrace their e-health role(s). She sees many possibilities in this area.
Current Activities/Future Plans
Leslien is currently very active in the Mood and Anxiety Program and Assessment Program clinically as well as involved in Program Development and Education, especially with respect to person centred care and the recovery approach, smoking management, seclusion and restraint reduction, metabolic syndrome, patient/client/family/visitor and customer service.
Leslien is a member of the RNAO Mental Health Nurses Interest Group as the Financial Office since January 2010 and continues to advocate for the mentally ill and for mental health promotion strategies.
