Lisa is currently a Sessional Course Instructor for the Advanced Practice Nursing Course in the graduate program at Athabasca University . In the past, Lisa has been a Clinical Assistant in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto and a Sessional Nursing Instructor at Centennial College in Scarborough , ON .
Lisa has been the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards. Most recently, she was awarded the Diane Y. Stewart Scholarship in 2005 from the London Health Sciences Centre.
Interests/Research Interests
Lisa is a seasoned speaker locally, nationally and internationally on a variety of clinical and professional nursing topics. In 2003, Lisa authored the chapter ‘Pediatric solid organ transplantation' in Transplantation Nursing Secrets . In 2002, Lisa published an article entitled ‘Posttransplant viral syndromes in pediatric patients: a review', in Progress in Transplantation .
Current Activities/Future Plans
Lisa moved to London in the summer of 2002 and switched clinical specialties to focus on pediatric acquired brain injury. She currently leads the in-patient ABI program and is in the early stages of establishing the ABI Nursing Interest Group as a forum to advance practice in the care of these complex patients. Lisa has demonstrated a keen interest in the acute care management of patients with posterior fossa syndrome and the management of agitation in severely injured patients with traumatic brain injury. Lisa also provides leadership, consultation and collaborates on presentations with members from the Pediatric Acquired Brain Injury Community Outreach Program.
Lisa is an active member in the Thames Valley ABI network and in the local chapter of the Canadian Association of Neuroscience Nurses. She is also a member of the Ontario Association of Rehabilitation Nurses. She sits on the Pediatric Trauma Committee and on the Pediatric Trauma Committee Research Group. Apart from her clinical leadership, Lisa is the Chairperson of the CHWO APN group and is spearheading the development of a template for performance evaluation of pediatric APNs.
