Lorraine is an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist focused on cardiology and heart failure at London Health Sciences Centre, University Hospital.

Academic Affiliations
In 2001, Lorraine served as a mentor in the RNAO sponsored “Advanced Clinical Fellowship Nurse Clinician Program”. In July 2004, she worked jointly with Athabasca University as a Preceptor for an MScN student in the Advanced Nursing Practice stream.
The LHSC Heart Failure Program is recognized as a role model for heart failure clinics in Canada and Lorraine has provided preceptorship opportunities for many heart failure clinic nurses from other institutions. She has also developed tools for in-service training of hospital nurses on heart failure management.
Interests/Research Interests
Lorraine's research interests relate to optimizing both patients' and nurses' knowledge of heart failure. She has co-authored a research article entitled “Instruments to Measure Acceptability of Information and Acquisition of Knowledge in Patients with Heart Failure”, as well as several abstracts pertaining to patient education and its impact on outcomes.
Lorraine has co-authored a poster entitled “Optimizing Heart Failure Management – Helping Patients Get on Beta Blockers”, and she presented a workshop to the Canadian CHF Clinic Network nurses on the “Pitfalls of Beta Blocker Therapy”.
Current Activities/Future Plans
In the future, Lorraine hopes to organize a CHF patient support group and to author a paper focusing on differentiating systolic from diastolic left ventricular dysfunction, etiology of heart failure, medication uptitration strategies and novel approaches to treating heart failure
