Maureen is an Adjunct Faculty member with the Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing at Western University.
Interests/Research Interests
Maureen Loft ‘s interests include patient and family education, RNAO Best Practice Guidelines, paediatric to adult transition in diabetes care, NP / advance practice nursing, patient experiences of stress and coping.
Maureen is a RNAO BPG PhD Fellow working on research that looks at patient experiences of stress and coping with the initiation of insulin therapy. Maureen has previously implemented patient and family pre-admission programs to assist patients and their families with orthopedic surgical experiences. This program included members of the interdisciplinary team and has received extremely positive feedback from both patients and caregivers.
Maureen has made scholarly presentations in the areas of diabetes, orthopedics and advanced practice nursing. Both the Canadian Orthopedic Nurses Association and the physicians of the Canadian Orthopedic Association recognized Maureen for her research on patient experiences following joint replacement.
Current Activities/Future Plans
Upon completion of her PhD, Maureen plans to continue her clinically focused research to improve the care of patients and assist with improvements to the current healthcare process.
