Patricia is a Nurse Practitioner in the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences at London Health Sciences Centre, University Hospital .

Academic Affiliations

From 1996-2003, Patricia has presented several papers to Undergraduate nursing students at the University of Western Ontario (UWO). Topics of her presentations have included: brain tumours, spinal cord injury, stroke, increased intracranial pressure, care of the patient with seizures, and neurological assessment.

In the past, Patricia has been an Adjunct Professor and a Preceptor for BScN students in the School of Nursing at UWO.

Interests/Research Interests

Patricia's past research has focussed on medical directives for nurse practitioners, spinal cord assessment tools, and pain management in neurosurgical patients. Her work on spinal cord assessment tools has led to the development of a twenty-minute instructional video for staff nurses at LHSC, University Hospital .

In 1997, Patricia was the Principal Investigator on a research project titled, “Evaluating Pain Management in Post-Operative Neurosurgical Patients: Effectiveness of an Advanced Nurse Practitioner Guiding the Research Utilization Process with Staff Nurses”.

Current Activities/Future Plans

Since 2000, Patricia has held workshops twice annually for the Southwestern Ontario Chapter of the Canadian Association of Neuroscience Nurses. These workshops are geared towards educating staff nurses and those employed in allied health positions.
