Sue is an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist with the Palliative Care Consultation Service at London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Hospital . Sue has been employed with London Health Sciences Centre since 1980 where she participated in the opening of the first Canadian Multi-Organ Transplant Unit and its ongoing operations, continuous quality improvement, accreditation, and clinical pathway development and implementation. Sue joined the Palliative Care service five years ago to better understand how to manage pain and suffering.

Academic Affiliations
Sue holds a joint appointment at The University of Western Ontario's School of Nursing as an Assistant Professor. She has presented widely at local, national and international conferences [ USA , Europe ], the local university nursing school, hospitals, and community support groups. Sue has participated in many clinical mentorships of undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
Interests/Research Interests
Sue has done descriptive, evaluative, and qualitative research. Sue's research interests are in the area of health promotion, resource utilization, and outcome measurement. Examples of her work include: “How patients manage life and health resources while waiting for a liver transplant”, published in Progress in Transplantation ; and “Following the path to improved care”, published in Focus: A Canadian Newsletter for Liver Transplant Recipients .
Current Activities/Future Plans
- To do collaborative research in the area of palliative care.
- To assist with the development of a palliative care curriculum for the orientation of nursing staff at London Health Sciences Centre.
